RATIO AND PROPORTION Class - 1(Basic)

Ratio is a comparison of two quantities by division. Since ratio is an abstract quantity, two quantities must be in the same unit. Ratio of two quantity represents the number of times one quantity contains another quantity of the same kind. Ratio is a comparison of two Like quantities. vals aal or 3

Types of Ratio 1. Direct Ratio If two quantity are related to each other in a way that if value of one is increased or decreased, then other value also increases or decreases accordingly. For example Distance is product of speed and time. If time is constant, then increase in speed will increase distance also. 2. Inverse Ratio If two quantity are related to each other in a way that if value of one is increased or decreased, then other value also decreases or increases accordingly. For example: Distance is product of speed and time, if distance is constant, then increase in speed, will decrease time and vice vasa. Time and Speed contain inverse ratio.
